Golden Week Day 3 (Hachiōji)
Updated: May 30, 2023
Today I hung out with my friend who's also in the band club with me. He's been helping me learn the drum part for one of the songs I'm going to be playing at the concert at my school, so he offered to rent a studio and practice. I've never done anything like that before, so I was really surprised when I found out that there are studio practice rooms that you can just rent out for cheap. It was a lot of fun, and it wasn't the most successful practice session I've had, but it was still a lot of fun. Since the studio was in Hachioji which is the train station I get off at to ride the school bus, I told my friend I knew about some music shops in the area, and we went to check them out together. I taught him how to play the intro of Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana on the guitar. I haven't really played guitar at all ever since I arrived at Japan, so I realized I forgot things that I had learned, and I was a little shocked and disappointed by how much you could forget without a couple weeks of practice. We also went to the Mister Donuts near the train station and tried out the new flavors together. My friend had to go to cram school to study for the college entrance exam, so I had dinner with my host family. We had pizza at.a restaurant near their house, and just as I expected, Japanese pizza tastes a lot different and is a lot smaller than American pizza. I didn't do anything really touristy, but I still had a lot of fun regardless.
Cool〜!
Cool jam session.
